Let's Go: "Sent to Serve"
I. Courageous View of Calling. (Mark 10:32-35)
Acts 23:11 – “The following night the Lord stood by him and said, “Take courage, for as you have testified to the facts about me in Jerusalem, so you must testify also in Rome.””
Philippians 1:20 – “...it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death.”
II. Corrupted View of Calling. (Mark 10:36-42)
Romans 12:2 – “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Luke 22:26 – “But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves.”
III. Correct View of Calling. (Mark 10:43-45)
Hebrews 12:2 – “looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”
John 10:18 – “No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.””
Philippians 2:3 – “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”
1 John 2:6 – “whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.”
